Welcome to the .064th edition of Prescriptions. We enter the fall festival season with previews of Expo Chicago, Frieze London, & Berlin Art Week. Stay with us as we trace FIAC Paris, Art Toronto and Aesthetica short film festival just around the corner. Here is our review of the week in the arts.

New York Film Festival 56

This year’s program includes the Main Slate showcasing films from 22 countries, and a program including titles from celebrated auteurs, and features that wowed audiences at international festivals. Dora GarcíaNuri Bilge CeylanAlice Rohrwacher, and Julian Schnabel will be among those presented. September 28 – October 14 at Film Society at Lincoln Center.

“That the materiality of the glass be barely perceptible is essential for this piece for several reasons as my work is always an investigation of space, both architectural and immaterial.” –Eva Schlegel. On view at Kunsthalle Krems through November 11, 2018.

Expo Chicago hosts leading international art galleries alongside one of the highest quality platforms for contemporary art with programs including Exposure, Profile, Exhibitions & Symposium. Closes tomorrow, September 30, 2018, Navy Pier, Chicago.

In Nils Olav Boe’s Photographic Constructions, landscapes draw the curtain aside to reveal limitless and timeless space, in grey tones. “If you take away the color, you take away a little of time.” On view at Shoot Gallery through October 27 2018.

La Mia Mappa / Emily Jacir

La mia Roma is an ode to walking, to labor, and to what Emily Jacir describes as one of the great architectural wonders of Rome, featuring several recent works exhibited for the first time in the U.S. Through October 27, 2018 at Alexander and Bonin.
