The exhibition of Jan Groover in the GAK (Gesellschaft für Aktuelle Kunst) will present exemplary images since the 1970s and will be supplemented by an extensive accompanying programme with guiding tours, lectures, talks and a children’s workshop. Through November 12, 2017.

Aesthetica Short Film Festival

The Aesthetica Short Film Festival, founded in 2011, is an international film festival which takes place annually in York, UK. It is a celebration of independent film from around the world, and an outlet for supporting and championing filmmaking. November 8-12, 2017.

 

Gordon Smith

Gordon Smith: The Black Paintings

Though primarily known as a landscape painter, Smith’s complex oeuvre can be characterized as one of continued and varied artistic exploration. Strikingly different from his landscape images, the black paintings have a depth and emotive richness, which reveals itself only with close observation. Through February 4, 2018 / Vancouver Art Gallery.

Fortsetzung Folgt / 140 Years

With the three-part exhibition series Fortsetzung Folgt (“To Be Continued”), Hochschule Luzern Design & Kunst, the oldest art academy in Switzerland celebrating 140 years, brings together works of former students and associates. Through January 7, 2018.

For the last five decades, Mary Corse has explored perception, properties of light, and ideas of abstraction. This exhibit brings together works from this half-century engagement. Through November 11, 2017 at Kayne Griffin Corcoran gallery in Los Angeles.
