30 Under 30 Women Photographers / 2023
Nov 5 – Dec 16, 2023
Artpil / Recontemporary

Artpil proudly announces the artist reception / slideshow projection and exhibition for 30 Under 30 Women Photographers 2023. Participating in the Torino Art Week 2023 and in collaboration with Recontemporary, an artist reception and slideshow projection will take place November 7, 2023, 6–9 pm. The online exhibition opens November 5 and runs through December 16, 2023 on Artpil’s online viewing room.

Founded in 2010, 30 Under 30 Women Photographers has helped emerging, mid-career, as well as some accomplished women photographers to gain further exposure and participate in the collective among peers. With styles ranging from art photography to documentary, portraiture to street and fashion, the works have been overwhelmingly well received.

Previous groups have exhibited in Rome in collaboration with CultRise and Dude Magazine, and in Paris and Lille in partnership with Maison Photo at Maison de la Photographie and Galerie Claude Samuel. The 2020 group gave occasion to launch Artpil’s online viewing room and we continued with 2021 and 2022 participating in Rome Art Week with an artist reception and projection alongside a full exhibition online. This year promises further exposure and an expanded audience for the 2023 group.

  • Georg Kussmann: FRG

The German dramatist Heiner Müller observed that German history lies as if smothered by a rheumatism blanket: beneath there is warmth and stagnation, just enough to give the impression all is well, while the peripheries are freezing. Georg Kussmann’s photographs in FRG were created under this metaphoric blanket. Made in the Federal Republic of Germany over a single summer, they depict everyday scenes of life, work, and leisure (more…)

  • Yuwei Tu: Wherever Your Mother’s Shadow Falls

    Rusha & Co.
    Los Angeles, USA

Rusha & Co. is pleased to announce Yuwei Tu: Wherever Your Mother’s Shadow Falls, the inaugural solo exhibition by the artist. Drawing inspiration from Ocean Vuong’s poem of the same title, this presentation of works echoes similar themes, exploring the complexities of self and felt emotion. Yuwei’s work examines themes of love, loss, and solitude. Wherever Your Mother’s Shadow Falls is an ode to maternal relationships, an introspection of consciousness and a slow contemplation of self-acceptance. (more…)

  • Betty Bee: Nacquero A Napoli Improvvisandosi
    Apr 7 – Jun 7, 2024
    Milan, Italy

Strictly brunettes. Indeed brunette one, brunette the other.
Capricious by poetics the first by birth, smooth as a straight line the second. The birthplaces of both are Parthenopean. As for one rooted on the cliffs of Posillipo where she also spent the resilient months of the recent Pandemic, while the other belongs to that blood material that protrudes into the vessel of the great swarming artery of Via Foria and its labyrinthine environs, where she still resides.
