Kamille Lévêque Jégo takes us on a journey through a self-proclaimed fiction about a gang of girls who oppose violence against women. These are not, as you may have guessed, the “Trad wives” or “bimbos” so beloved by the manosphere; they bare their teeth and also unleash their claws.
Brilliantly wielding the dramatic devices of photographic rhetoric, borrowing their “vilely” seductive aesthetics from advertising and fashion, Kamille Lévêque Jégo takes us on a high-octane, contemporary remake of Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (1965, Russ Meyer).
We are captivated by the veracity of the images and the situations depicted. A visual and emblematic masterpiece of an era where women, since #metoo, the speeches of Judith Godrèche and Adèle Haenel, the thunderous trial of Dominique Pélicot, no longer allow themselves to be subjected to the will of men, monstrous and decadent figures of a patriarchy that is currently being experienced in recent days…? Let’s hope so, because the time has come for a femininity without any more inferiority complexes.
