The 10th anniversary edition of Festival Circulation(s) dedicated to emerging photography in Europe and hosted at Le Centquatre – Paris reveals the vitality of young creation and speaks to the diversity of photographic expressions through unique exhibits and events.

A stepping stone for artists, a prospective and innovative laboratory of contemporary creativity, Circulation(s) has become, over the past 10 years, a must-attend photography event and a trend revelator. Since its inception in 2011, the festival has exhibited over 382 artists and attracted over 300,000 visitors with an ever-growing aspiration to be an approachable event of high standards.

    Cristin Tierney Gallery is pleased to present All American, a solo exhibition of paintings by Roger Shimomura. The exhibition opens Friday, April 26 and will be on view through June 8, 2024. This is the artist’s first solo exhibition in New York in over a decade and his first solo show at the gallery. Through juxtaposition of contemporary America and traditional Japan, the artist employs images from both cultures to create a complicated layering of pictorial information and social observation.     During the 2016 US Presidential elections Japanese photographer, Fumi Nagasaka, became intrigued by the rural and southern USA. She had lived in New York City for a decade but despite travelling the world, had yet to visit the rest of the US. All this changed when her friend, Tanya Rouse, invited her to her hometown of Dora, Alabama. Nagasaka continued to visit Dora over several years, gradually building a photographic archive of her visits. (more…)
