The MA Fashion Communication course brings together three pathways: Fashion Image, Fashion Critical Studies and Fashion Journalism. Fashion Image introduces the next generation of photographers, stylists, art directors, creative directors and 3-D digital artists. Fashion Critical Studies investigates the cultural and historical significance of fashion and reframes narratives around topical discourses. Fashion Journalism focuses on writing, reporting and publishing for traditional and digital platforms, including e-commerce and social media. Join us for this public showcase of the student work, from 12–6pm, 23–25 November.

    On this day… Stasys arrives back at his home village, Lepšiai… It all happens in May 2024… That’s when the Stasys Museum opens up to the public, a museum titled after him. This was never predicted – the future from there, a little village, in the house within a disorderly wooden structure, run down with dripping roofs, filled with bellowing, roaring farm animals… No fairy tales could be heard there… But just one hour’s walk away from Lepšiai, the white rectangular building stands proudly in the city centre (more…)

  • Eric Bachmann: The One-Man Water Cannon Test

    Following several violent clashes between youths and city police in Switzerland’s largest city during the summer of 1968, the city council, in consultation with the state council, decided to purchase four modern water cannon vehicles, two each for the city and cantonal police. However, by doing so, the city council overstepped its authority and bypassed the municipal council.   • Atiéna R. Kilfa: Special Effect

    With Special Effect, Atiéna R. Kilfa presents a new body of works consisting of a short film and two large scale pencil drawings. In continuation of Kilfa’s investigation and restructuring of cinematic archetypes, Special Effect homes in on the nondescript figure of a man sitting at a desk. Shot in black and white, the film eerily evokes a timelessness of the figure by bringing it in resonance with pictorial genres reminiscent of various eras from German Expressionist cinema to the golden age of Hollywood film noir, fast forward to its 4K quality of today.   • Ernest Cole: A Lens in Exile

    Offering a rare and reflective insight into the seminal South African photographer Ernest Cole, A Lens in Exile is the first exhibition of his photographs documenting New York City during the height of the civil rights movement in America. Best known for his radical images documenting the violence of apartheid, Cole fled South Africa in 1966 and was officially made stateless in 1968.
