Michael Crouser’s third book of photography, Mountain Ranch, is published by Texas University Press, with a forward by Gretel Ehrlich. This series captures the disappearing tradition of a different kind of heroism of the romanticized American West.
Again, all shot with film and developed in his darkroom, the photos chronicle the lives of real ranch people in the mountains of Colorado, often captured in existential moments going about their work day, brooding faces half hidden under large brims.
