The 8th annual LensCulture Portrait Awards aim to discover and reward more than 35 photographers around the globe who are making exceptional photographic portraits today.

These awards are open to photographers at all levels of experience, and all genres of portraiture are welcome – from professional studio shoots, to detailed environmental portraits, to casual candids. We’re open to all types of artistic approaches, too, including staged, fiction, fashion, metaphoric, self-portrait and conceptual work.

Winners will enjoy career changing opportunities including exhibition in New York coinciding with the very first Paris Photo New York, extensive media coverage, cash prizes and more.

Whether your portraits are traditional or eclectic, quirky or visionary – we want to see your work!

Those who founded Mudam Luxembourg, for example, envisioned a museum that would encompass many aspects of contemporary culture, such as art, design and architecture. While one believes the museum to be a place for the presentation of modern art, others view it as a showcase for Luxembourgish creation.     Polly Braden: Leaving Ukraine is an intimate portrait of women, forced to leave their homes following the Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022. In this new series of work we see the extraordinary journeys undertaken by mothers, daughters, teenagers and babies in arms. Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, Polly Braden has used her camera to document the lives of women and children unexpectedly scattered across Europe.     On the occasion of our exhibition with Weldé at CFAlive Milan L’AMOUR TOUJOURS, we publish a new edition of the previously sold-out book that we produced with Weldé in 2017, FREIHEIT. All of the photographs in FREIHEIT were taken by Weldé on disposable cameras between 2011-2015. They show a tender side to the artist and his friend circle, and the purest form of trust. (more…)

    “When approaching the subject ‘A Real Woman’, I felt it crucial that this was not a question to be answered, but rather a statement to be considered. There is no single or simple definition of a woman. I hope the different perspectives presented by our artists will inspire viewers to consider the plurality of the womanhood, and thereby encourage understanding and empathy towards those whose lives are shaped differently from their own.
