Prospect Art invites visual artists worldwide to apply for our 2025 NEW WORK commission under the theme In Flux.
What emerges when artists inhabit the flux between established forms and emerging technologies? Artistic practice today often exists between states—analog and digital, handmade and algorithmic, physical and virtual. We seek proposals that explore these in-between spaces—materially, conceptually, or both. This call is open to professional visual artists at any career stage, except those currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studio art programs. One artist will receive a $1,000 commission to produce a conceptually driven, self-contained new work within 12 months.
In addition to the commissioned artist, a small number of applicants will be selected for:
– ONE WORK, our monthly online series featuring in-depth dialogue around a single completed artwork
– 2026 BROADCAST, a curated online program of screenings, artist talks, and discussions focused on the In Flux theme, curated by 2025/2026 Curatorial Fellow Julianna Heller
Whether or not technology is your primary medium, we welcome proposals that reflect on how we live, create, and connect in a heavily mediated world. Research-based and idea-driven practices are especially encouraged.
