Studio B49 is a multi-functional creative space in the Pigneto district of Rome with two facets in its activity: photographic studio and co-working space.

The studio is comprised of three residential units, adjacent but independent. Facilities include a co-working area housing approximately 20 operational stations; white walls to be used for photo shoots and easily adaptable to various design needs; a huge skylight for natural lighting; sitting rooms, make-up room, restrooms and offices; 12-seat meeting room with a 55 inch screen; up to 7 meter ceilings, climate controlled, and with high speed internet.

    The German dramatist Heiner Müller observed that German history lies as if smothered by a rheumatism blanket: beneath there is warmth and stagnation, just enough to give the impression all is well, while the peripheries are freezing. Georg Kussmann’s photographs in FRG were created under this metaphoric blanket.     On the occasion of our exhibition with Weldé at CFAlive Milan L’AMOUR TOUJOURS, we publish a new edition of the previously sold-out book that we produced with Weldé in 2017, FREIHEIT. All of the photographs in FREIHEIT were taken by Weldé on disposable cameras between 2011-2015. They show a tender side to the artist and his friend circle, and the purest form of trust. (more…)
  • Atiéna R. Kilfa: Special Effect

    With Special Effect, Atiéna R. Kilfa presents a new body of works consisting of a short film and two large scale pencil drawings. In continuation of Kilfa’s investigation and restructuring of cinematic archetypes, Special Effect homes in on the nondescript figure of a man sitting at a desk. Shot in black and white, the film eerily evokes a timelessness of the figure by bringing it in resonance with pictorial genres reminiscent of various eras from German Expressionist cinema to the golden age of Hollywood film noir, fast forward to its 4K quality of today.
