Founded by Richard Coyne and Robert Blanchard in 1959, Communication Arts is the premier source of inspiration for graphic designers, art directors, design firms, corporate design departments, advertising agencies, interactive designers, illustrators and photographers – everyone involved in visual communication. CA’s editorials, feature articles and annual competitions provide new ideas and information while promoting the highest professional standards for the field.
Now in our 58th year, our three-generation family-run business is committed to inspiring all visual communicators, from industry veterans to tomorrow’s innovators.
In addition, the Richard and Jean Coyne Family Foundation was established in 1990 to increase diversity in visual communications. The Foundation currently funds seventeen programs managed by educational institutions and non-profit trade organizations that help economically disadvantaged high-school students develop portfolios to qualify for admission to art school, and provide college scholarships for them to study graphic design, advertising, photography and illustration.
