Concéntrico
Architecture & Design Festival

Concéntrico is the International Festival of Architecture and Design of Logroño that annually proposes to reflect on the urban environment and the city. The Festival invites visitors to explore the city through installations, exhibitions, meetings and activities that propose new collective uses, strengthening the idea of community in the public space.

Since 2015, the eight editions of the festival have brought together more than 100 urban interventions created by teams of national and international architects and designers who experiment with new fields of environmental design. In this way, a dialogue is established between the city, heritage and contemporary architecture that activates the reflection of citizens on these spaces.

The festival is organised by the Cultural Foundation of the Architects of La Rioja together with Javier Peña Ibáñez, promoter of the initiative, in collaboration with Logroño City Council, the Government of La Rioja, Garnica and Bodegas LAN, and has the support of more than 30 local, regional, national and international institutions, entities and companies.

Pilar Corrias is delighted to present a solo exhibition of new work by Christina Quarles this autumn. In this new body of work, Quarles continues to delve into notions of identity and representation, synthesising her study of drawing, experimental painting techniques and digital technology. Painted during the summer months, the light and colours of the L.A. sky bleed through Quarles’ palette. Lattice-like patterns and recognisable motifs such as swimming pools, sunsets and concentrated stripes are redeployed as intricate environments, rendering multiple layers of meaning within the work. Adrianna Ault was raised in New Orleans where a 350 mile levee system controls and holds back flood waters. This project began as Ault attempted to better understand the landscape surrounding the city, but evolved over the course of 5-years to encompass her changing family, journeys they took and the processing of grief. The levee became a metaphor for the barriers built in an attempt to ward off inevitable decline, and the onslaught of time and nature. (more…)

A year. That’s how long it’s been since Karla Hiraldo Voleau’s exhibition Another Love Story first opened at the MEP in Paris in 2022. A year is also the timeframe of the story chronicled in that project – a love story personal to KHV, which shifts abruptly from its climax to its end when she discovers that X, her lover, is leading a double life – a revelation that prompts the artist to question her certainties.
