Daria Gumenuk
Photographer

I received my secondary vocational education at the Moscow State University of Art and Industry. Stroganov in the direction of “Design of space and architectural small forms,” and now I am graduating from the university of the same name with a degree in Multimedia design. Photography is my special passion. I started with street photography, aiming to capture the details that create a harmonious pictorial picture in front of us. In the winter of 2018-2019, I took photography courses at White Photo School and started commercial shooting. Preparing and conducting photo sessions was not difficult for me, I enjoyed organizing and managing the process.

For quite some time I was engaged in commercial orders for branding and advertising design. As a result, I realized that this design was not close to me, and I would like to do more artistically meaningful things.

The war in Ukraine is preventing the export of wheat, Covid-19 and timber shortages are making themselves felt in construction projects all over the world: These events are not just human tragedies, they are also an urgent reminder of global dependencies. The German dramatist Heiner Müller observed that German history lies as if smothered by a rheumatism blanket: beneath there is warmth and stagnation, just enough to give the impression all is well, while the peripheries are freezing. Georg Kussmann’s photographs in FRG were created under this metaphoric blanket. Made in the Federal Republic of Germany over a single summer, they depict everyday scenes of life, work, and leisure (more…)
