Diana Omnivaga
Photographer

Diana Omnivaga (1997, Athens) is a visual artist currently working with photography, styling, creative direction in Athens, Greece.

Growing up in Cyprus, in a much unprogressive & patriarchal island, she felt restricted and an outcast since a young age. She started taking self portraits around the age of 15 using her Dell laptop and an iPhone 4. Her constant exploration of sexuality and her love of the naked body were not well received from the society she was forced to grown up in. Since a young teenager she felt the need to escape the island that had rejected her, and she did that by applying to study Forensic Science in the United Kingdom.

Photography was a dream but fear of failure kept her from devoting herself to it. After purchasing her first “professional” digital camera at the age of 18, she started capturing moments of her adventures with ex-partners, friends & her own self.

After graduating from University, she decided to leave science behind and start a journey of self discovery feeling lost in a sea of possibilities without much confidence to explore them. Working random part-time jobs to make a living, she had the safety to create on the side.

By the end of 2022, she decided to start producing her own shootings, at once taking the role of casting director, photographer, stylist & creative director. She started curating her universe in which her “characters” were living. Empowered and inspired by “rebel” women, these characters are exaggerated, but in a chic feminin way, expressing in their own way the female gaze; the everyday performance of being a woman in our current society.

  • Rencontres d’Arles 2024
    Beneath The Surface
    Jul 1 – Sep 29, 2024
    Arles, France
Tremors and turmoil, spirits, traces, parallel readings and rereadings all constitute new perspectives underlying the 2024 edition of the Rencontres d’Arles. Photographers, artists and curators reveal their visions and stories, not least that of our humanity, by turns thwarted, in endless redefinition, resilient, but also visionary. Whether on the margins or established at the center, the narratives lead to divergent, multiple paths, all emanating from the faults in a porous surface: they intertwine, superimpose and overlap.
