Elena Costa was born in 1997 in Turin, Italy. In 2020 she graduated at the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo (CN), where she focused her studies on environmental issues and sustainable economics applied to food and wine production. Passioned about photography and arts, she moved to Rome to continue her studies in photography at ISFCI – Istituto Superiore di Fotografia.
In 2022, she was selected by the Rome-based collective Kobo to take part in the group exhibition Youth. In April 2023, her work was exhibited in Exclusion, curated by Perimetro in Milan, and in May 2023 she was selected for the Liquida Grant exhibition at Liquida Photofestival in Turin.
In May 2024, following the publication of her project Lungo il fiume e sull’acqua in Fotografia dell’Architettura magazine, the work was presented in an exhibition at Bibliobar, with an outdoor installation at Castel Sant’Angelo in Rome. Her works have been published in magazines such as Safelight Paper, BROAD Magazine, Artribune (with a photographic reportage curated by Alessia Caliendo on the archive of Gabriele Meyer), and L’Espresso (Roma due sponde, due facce). She was also selected as part of 24 Photographers for 2024, featured in Artribune’s issue dedicated to Fashion and Fragrances.
In 2024, she worked as an in-house photographer and videographer for Lomography in Vienna. She collaborated and exhibited with Casa Ornella by Maria Vittoria Paggini in Milan during Design Week in April 2025. Since 2025, she has been working as a freelance photographer with Promemoria Group, focusing on the digitization of historical archives.
She has attended several workshops, including More Truth and Personality in Your Work curated by Erik Kessels in Milan (2022) and H24, led by Luca Santese and Marco Valli of the Cesura collective in Rome (2022), both aimed at developing a project and its installation.
Her photographic research explores the languages of contemporary photography through personal projects touching individual, social, and environmental themes, She currently lives and works between Turin and Rome, where she is attending the Master’s program in Economics and Management for Art and Culture, focusing on cultural project management applied to photography.
