Emanuel K. Miranda (born 1990 in Montevideo, Uruguay) is a film director and photographer based in Washington, DC. He leads a practice with extensive experience in cinema, advertisement and journalism, focused on capturing the stories and pulse of human nature and cultural identity.
His artistic practice delves around the relation between the representation of the body, masculinity, identity and memory. Exploring the boundaries between reality and fiction, his style retains the intimacy of documentary while also delivering surrealist visuals.
He studied audiovisual communication in Uruguay, and plastic arts in Paris, France. In 2019 he produced the documentary television series Cook with the Book. The series was declared of cultural interest by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Uruguay, and participated in the Cannes Film Festival.
