Emin Mathers

Emin Mathers was born in Baku in 1990. From 2009, during his last year in Architecture and Construction University, he started to practice photography as a more realistic tool to share his observations. From that time photography became an adventure taken to explore the reality of life. Mathers works mostly in street photography to observe daily activities of citizens and conceptual photography to express conclusions about reality. He has worked on photography stories with the media platforms such as Chai Khana and is a participant of GC2020 UN75, as well as a finalist of LSPF 2020.

    A year. That’s how long it’s been since Karla Hiraldo Voleau’s exhibition Another Love Story first opened at the MEP in Paris in 2022. A year is also the timeframe of the story chronicled in that project – a love story personal to KHV, which shifts abruptly from its climax to its end when she discovers that X, her lover, is leading a double life – a revelation that prompts the artist to question her certainties.     Following a first edition of BLIND DATE in our Beirut space in 2017, we are bringing the concept to Hamburg, with a group exhibition including artists from outside our gallery roster. Unknown to us and to each other, the 6 invited artists for this second edition are coincidentally all young female artists. With widely different practices and modes of expressions, they all have ties to the Arab-speaking world, and address each in her own way questions and subject matters linked to their roots and cultural heritage.
