Katerina Kallopoulos’ artistic journey reflects a deep connection to her family heritage and personal experiences. Born in 2003, she was raised in Upstate New York and studied photography at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She was able to take her studies abroad, studying photojournalism in Florence, Italy before graduating in 2025.
Her creative exploration began at the age of eight, learning to sew from her grandmother, who not only shares her name but also her artistic passions. Katerina’s grandmother made significant sacrifices, marrying young to start a new life in America. Leaving behind her village of Vagia on the outskirts of Athens, Greece. This legacy of rebellion and bravery inspires Katerina to capture the essence of identity in her art, celebrating the strength, creativity, and complexity of female experiences.
Though her artistic journey began in the realm of sewing and fashion design, it was at the age of fourteen that Katerina Kallopoulos discovered photography as her true medium. Through the lens of a free-spirited, rebellious adolescent, she began to document the lives of her friends and family. Each photograph becomes a testament to fleeting moments, preserving the essence of life in its most genuine form.
Katerina continues to capture moments through the same eyes that once belonged to that fourteen year old girl.
