Founded in 2005, LAXART is a leading independent nonprofit contemporary art space in Los Angeles, committed to the production of experimental exhibitions and public art initiatives. Responding to Los Angeles’ cultural climate, LAXART produces and presents new work for all audiences and offers the public access to the next generation of artists and curators. LAXART supports challenging work, reflecting the diversity of the city and stimulates conversations on contemporary art in Los Angeles, fostering dynamic relationships between art, artists and their audiences. Since 2005, LAXART has produced and commissioned over 200 exhibitions, public initiatives, and projects.

LAXART will launch its Vision Campaign including The Occasional – a city wide exhibition and public art initiative. This platform for LA continues the organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting artistic and curatorial freedom while focusing on commissioning new work in experimental contexts.

    Rusha & Co. is pleased to announce Yuwei Tu: Wherever Your Mother’s Shadow Falls, the inaugural solo exhibition by the artist. Drawing inspiration from Ocean Vuong’s poem of the same title, this presentation of works echoes similar themes, exploring the complexities of self and felt emotion. Yuwei’s work examines themes of love, loss, and solitude. Wherever Your Mother’s Shadow Falls is an ode to maternal relationships, an introspection of consciousness and a slow contemplation of self-acceptance. (more…)

    Ortuzar Projects is pleased to present Ernie Barnes: In Rapture, the gallery’s first exhibition of the late figurative painter Ernie Barnes (1938-2009) in collaboration with Andrew Kreps Gallery. Spanning five decades of Barnes’ career, this survey features genre paintings of sports, dance, musical performance and the joys of everyday life in his signature “neo-mannerist” style.
