Growing up in Birmingham, Alabama, has heavily influenced Linley Wyatt’s photography work. Through her documentary work, she wishes to bring Southern voices and artwork to light. She is critical of the power imbalances, corruption, and misrepresentation that are often present in many Southern states. However, she also captures the beauty, love, and peace that the Southern states have as well. She is keen about getting these voices and narratives out there into the world. With this, she also hopes to inspire the next generation through her work to speak out and pursue art, since she had limited art exposure in her youth.
Linley Wyatt is keen on her belief that photography is the key to powerful storytelling, especially through photojournalism. It is the one medium that can make or break a story, and it reaches the heart like no other. In recent years, Linley Wyatt has also been published in the Oxford American for her series “Safe Haven” and featured in both of the SCAD Fine Arts exhibitions in 2025.
