Maddalena Salato (Turin, 2003) is a photographer and visual artist with a degree in Photography from the IED in Turin. Her training began in high school with a specialisation in graphic design, an experience that defined her interest in images as a complex and layered language.
Her work focuses on film photography and the materiality of the medium, exploring the possibilities of manipulating and recomposing the negative and the print. In her research, photography is never a simple recording, but rather a living body, susceptible to transformations, deviations and rewritings.
At the same time, she cultivates a strong interest in art publishing as a tool for dissemination and critical reflection. She is currently working on “The Nails”, a photobook created and curated by her, in continuous mutation, where the image intertwines with a neo-organic imagery that blends human-animal and identity.
She lives and works in Turin, Italy.
