Marres, House for Contemporary Culture, is an internationally operating “presentatie-instelling” located at Maastricht. The institution researches new developments in contemporary visual art and presents its findings to a broad audience by means of exhibitions, research programs, and public events. It does so while putting emphasis on sensory development, the language of the body and immersive sceneries. Marres works together with visual artists, designers, musicians, perfumers, scientists, and chefs to create works of art and to research new artistic practices. Besides this, Marres puts a lot of time and effort in young talents.

    “A body of work starts by daydreaming…” –Mary Heilmann On May 2nd, we will open ‘Daydream Nation’ at its 22nd Street gallery, exploring Mary Heilmann’s ongoing interest in drawing as a form of transcribing memory. Curated by artist Gary Simmons, Heilmann’s friend and former student and colleague at New York’s School of Visual Arts, the exhibition celebrates her talent for distilling complex images and ideas into deceptively simple geometric forms and abstract gestural marks.
