Mohsen Baghernejad Moghanjooghi (Tehran, 1988) lives and works in Turin, where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. He moved to Italy in 2011, after working for five years in his hometown as an assistant in an architecture studio. He then began working as a textile designer for a studio in Como. He has taken part in solo and group exhibitions, as well as artistic residencies in Italy. His most recent activities include: Summer love Welcome home, ME Vannucci art gallery(PT, 2023); PerPIRUZ, Bastione association (TO, 2022); Dalle 5:00 alle 7:00, Raffaella De Chirico Arte Contemporanea (MI, 2021); Paesaggi Personali, ME Vannucci art gallery (PT, 2021); It’s Cause and Cure, ARS SPACE (TO, 2021).

I am constantly fascinated by the unpredictability of gesture and thought and I find the ideal reward in the exploration of materials and constant affirmation of ideas and imagination. Making entropy of both the human-made and the natural my central concern, my interest lies in the pointed critique of the idea of progress through sculptures and installations. Everyday situations are distilled into succinct conceptual gestures; as text, object, and action, creating a visual archaeology of progress and decay, whether it is the erosion of physical forms or of social and historical meaning. Rippling in the insecurity of the artistic practice, questing the value of symbols and semiotics, I seek solace in the materialisation of instinctual gesture. In my working experience in Teheran, as assistant architect, i was really fascinated by interiors, understood as physical presence in a space and as education.
