The annual Beazley Designs of the Year exhibition returns, providing a snapshot of the very best in innovative and contemporary design from the past year.

Now in its 10th year, the exhibition will bring together over 60 global projects across six categories.

Architecture

Port House by Zaha Hadid Architects
A glass extension added to a disused fire station in Antwerp’s docks.

Pierre Chareau: Modern Architecture and Design by Diller Scofidio + Renfro
Four V.R experiences that can be viewed alongside actual objects. The settings are based on archival photographs of Pierre Chareau’s furniture, interiors and architecture, and on contemporary research done in Paris.

Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (ART) by CRRC Zhuzhou Institute
Autonomous Rapid Transit system is a self-driving, electric tram that’s guided not by tracks, but a double-dashed line painted on the street.

 

Nominated by renowned academics, critics and designers each project has been recognized for its outstanding contribute to design.

The public vote will be open online from October 2017 and a jury of industry experts will decide on the award winners in January 2018.
