Painting with Light

Yossi Milo Gallery is pleased to present Painting with Light, a group exhibition featuring abstract, process-driven photographs as varied in appearance, process and meaning as photography’s more traditional forms of production. In the hands of this group of artists, the medium is reduced to its most essential and variable element: the reaction of a given surface to the presence of light. Freed from its role as indexical record-keeper, photographs made by alternative means, often without a camera, transform into records of their own production.

The exhibition runs concurrently with Karl Martin Holzhäuser’s first solo exhibition at the gallery, Lichtmalerei, situating the rigorous experiments performed in his dark room in the 1980s in dialogue with a cross-section of contemporary works.
