I like to take pictures, and I do so every day. I try to capture architecture, moments, situations, feelings, lights around me. I love art, sophisticated electronic music and inspired people. I live in Germany, somewhere between Münster, Hamburg and Cologne.

We are at the year’s end, 2019. There is not a singularity of form which could define the past twelve months, or any epoch. This year, we have had our part of crisis and tension, distorted visions, along with struggles in identity, politics, and culture.
After returning from years of war coverage, Peter van Agtmael tries to piece together the memory, identity, race, class, and family, in a landscape which has become as surreal as the war he left behind.
