An international cultural initiative connecting contemporary art, cultural heritage, education and sustainability between The Bahamas, Paris and the wider world.
Foundation Eleutheria formally launches on 19 October 2026 at J.K. Place Paris, introducing an international cultural platform dedicated to fostering artistic exchange, supporting creative communities and advancing meaningful initiatives across art, education, cultural heritage and sustainability.
Rooted in The Bahamas and established with an international perspective, Foundation Eleutheria seeks to build meaningful bridges between cultures, connecting artists, collectors, galleries, institutions and communities across borders.
With Paris serving as a platform for international cultural exchange and The Bahamas providing a distinctive connection to Caribbean heritage, creativity and the natural environment, the Foundation aspires to foster artistic dialogue, encourage cultural collaboration and create opportunities for emerging and established artists.
Through exhibitions, artistic commissions, educational programmes and strategic partnerships, Eleutheria aims to establish a lasting cultural platform that transcends geography and brings diverse creative communities together.
Founded by Leslie C. Bethel, Chairperson and Alevtina Andreeva, Directrice Générale, Foundation Eleutheria brings together a shared commitment to contemporary art, cultural exchange and the development of meaningful international partnerships.
Drawing upon their respective connections to The Bahamas and Europe’s cultural communities, the founders envision Eleutheria as an independent platform where artistic expression, cultural dialogue and philanthropy can intersect.
The Foundation’s artistic direction is shaped with Elizaveta Andreeva, Founding Art Advisor and Co-founder of ALEZ Art Advisory, who brings experience across galleries, artists and collectors in Europe and beyond.
“Eleutheria was founded with the belief that culture can create lasting connections between people, places and ideas. We want to build a platform where artists, institutions, collectors and communities can meet and develop meaningful projects together. Our first initiatives in Paris and The Bahamas are the beginning of a much longer journey,” Alevtina Andreeva, Directrice Générale, Foundation Eleutheria.
Taking place during Art Basel Paris at J.K. Place hotel, the inaugural evening will introduce Foundation Eleutheria, its vision and its first artistic initiatives to an international gathering of artists, collectors, cultural leaders, galleries and friends of the Foundation.
Rather than a formal panel, the evening will feature an intimate Conversation on Art, exploring the role of independent cultural initiatives and the ways in which foundations can support artistic production, encourage cultural exchange and create meaningful relationships between artists, institutions and communities.
The programme will also present Eleutheria’s inaugural artistic collaboration with MASSIMO DE CARLO and artist Xiyao Wang, ALMINE RECH and artist Gioele Amaro, alongside the presentation of Li Ramet, with the support of ALEZ Art Advisory.
PARIS – THE BAHAMAS – THE WORLD
The launch in Paris marks the beginning of a broader cultural programme rather than a single event.
With its first initiatives in The Bahamas, Foundation Eleutheria is developing a cultural ecosystem that brings together contemporary art, heritage, education, architecture, design, hospitality, landscape and sustainability.
Beyond contemporary art, Foundation Eleutheria is committed to exploring the intersection of culture, environmental stewardship and community development. In The Bahamas, the Foundation envisions initiatives supporting marine conservation, environmental education, cultural heritage and the preservation of the natural environment.
Through collaborations with international foundations, educational institutions, artists and local communities, Eleutheria seeks to develop programmes that connect creative expression with sustainability, encouraging greater awareness, participation and long-term impact for future generations.
Future initiatives will include exhibitions, artistic commissions, educational programmes, cultural collaborations and the progressive development of the Foundation’s own collection.
At the heart of Eleutheria’s vision is the belief that cultural institutions can serve not only as platforms for presenting art, but also as spaces for connection, dialogue and long-term cultural stewardship.
“At the heart of Foundation Eleutheria is a vision to build bridges across borders and cultures, creating meaningful programmes and spaces where art, sustainability and human connection can flourish. We believe in the power of culture to inspire dialogue, bring communities together and create a lasting legacy for future generations,” Leslie C. Bethel, Founder & Chairperson, Foundation Eleutheria.
