For 2017, Swab Barcelona celebrates its 10th anniversary edition, from September 28th to October 1st, welcoming around 80 galleries from 5 continents, close to 20,000 visitors, and a large number of curated programs, prizes, and activities that venture beyond fair walls to bring art to the Barcelona locals.

Eley Daou performance

Moisés Pérez / Albéniz Gallery

Founded in 2006 by private collector Joaquín Díez-Cascón, the fair remains true to its initial goals of breaking with the elitist and hermetic idea that often surrounds the contemporary art scene and making it accessible to the general public, while supporting young artists, galleries, and curators looking to break into the art market.

“Swab Barcelona was born out of a need to join two of my passions: my home city of Barcelona and contemporary art. I wanted to create a space where I could share the artistic expressions and ideas that fascinated me at the time with Barcelona and its citizens.” –Joaquín Díez-Cascón.

Other programs include Behind the Artist, Swab Ephemeral, Swab Performance, Swab Thinks, and Exhibitions.
