Basis Frankfurt
Art Association / Artist Atelier

Basis has supported and presented international contemporary art in Frankfurt since 2006. In order to promote and develop a multitude of creative processes in Frankfurt, the association basis realizes an extensive model of support that consists of three main elements. This includes the provision of affordable workspaces, the presentation of exhibitions and various international exchange programs.

Besides the inexpensive workspaces made available to young artists and creatives at four locations in Frankfurt, basis provides communal workshops as well as exhibition and networking opportunities, thereby supporting those in their early phase of professionalization.

The exhibition program curated by basis presents outstanding international contemporary art in thematic group and solo shows. Readings, talks, concerts and performances compliment the program.

Within the context of the various exchange programs, international up-and-coming artists and curators are given the chance to gain new perspectives on their own praxis and to network internationally in the course of working scholarships lasting several months in Frankfurt and aspiring art centers worldwide.

The general focus of activities at basis is the mediation of artistic content and the interrogation of the role of art in society.
